Abstract

Mosses were collected in the course of geo-botanical research in 1997–2015 in the middle part of Yamal-Nenets Autonomous District on a series of key plots in northern taiga, forest-tundra and southern tundra subzones. The plots form a meridional transect between the Siberian ridges and Taz peninsula (N 63–68°, E 74–80°).Annotated list of mosses is compiled for the area on the material; few existing literature sources are also taken into account. The list includes 202 species and 3 varieties; occurrence, distribution and habitats are described for everyone. Habitats are typified as: plakor forests of northern taiga subzone; open forests of forest-tundra subzone; forest and shrub communities in river valleys; bogs, fens and transition mires; drained and boggy tundra; aquatic and waterside sites; bare ground in different conditions. For the most rare species herbarium labels are cited. 12 taxa are reported for the Autonomous District for the first time: Barbula unguiculata, Bryum bimum, B. cryophilum, B. lonchocaulon, Dicranella heteromalla, Dicranum bardunovii, D. flagellare, D. septentrionale, Ditrichum heteromallum, Drepanocladus aduncus var. polycarpus, Haplocladium microphyllum, Pohlia melanodon. Particular features of the bryoflora are briefly discussed. Some species have mainly Hypoarctic and Arctalpine distribution; in YaNAO they are on the southern border of the lowland part of the area. On the contrary, some another species are characterized by a more southern distribution, and in the north are related with the valley communities only.
