Type specimens of names of taxa of Heliotropiaceae and Boraginaceae kept in the National Herbarium of the Uzbekistan of Institute of Botany of Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan (TASH)
Abstract
The studies were carried out as part of the “Flora of Uzbekistan” project, which represents a transition from the classical stage of the existence of botanical information, available in the form of herbarium collections and paper publications summarizing them, to the modern stage of electronic accumulation, processing and dissemination of information. When conducting a critical revision of the species of the families Heliotropiaceae and Boraginaceae for the next volume of the “Flora of Uzbekistan”, an important stage in the work is the selection of type specimens and typification. The article contains information about 100 type specimens of the names of 38 species of the Heliotropiaceae and Boraginaceae kept in National Herbarium of the Uzbekistan of Institute of Botany of Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan (TASH), 22 specimens kept in Herbarium of the Komarov Botanical Institute (LE), 6 specimens kept in D. P. Syreitcshikov Herbarium of Biological faculty of Moscow State University (MW), and 2 specimens kept in Muséum National d’Histoire Naturelle, Paris, France (P). The type category is indicated, text of the original label and text of the protologue are cited for each specimen. Among 130 specimens found in the collections, there are 25 lectotypes, 29 isolectotypes, 35 syntypes, 12 holotypes, 7 isotypes, 6 paratypes and 17 authentic specimens. The lectotypes of the names of 13 species from genera: Cynoglossum, Lappula, Macrotomia, Nonea, Onosma, Paracaryum, Rindera, Stephanocaryum are designated. The selection of herbarium sample as a lectotype was confirmed for 7 taxa. The collection of type specimens presents the species described by M. G. Popov, K. Z. Zakirov, V. K. Paziy, A. P. Chukavina, E. G. Chernyakovskaya, R. V. Kamelin, A. D. Lee from the territory of all the republics of Central Asia: Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan. The earliest collections in the type collection belong to G. S. Karelin and I. P. Kirilov.
