Ranunculus ingae-taniae (Ranunculaceae) – a new species from Abkhazia
Abstract
The description of Ranunculus ingae-taniae Timukhin, Suvorov et Tuniyev discovered on Pshegishkhva (Pshakhushkha) mountain in Abkhazia in the middle of July 2017 is presented. The species belongs to R. sect. Acris Shcur. It is close to the Caucasian mountain species R. caucasicus M. Bieb. and R. brutius Ten. From the prior it differs by taller stems and bigger leaves, crenate leaf margins, small smooth nuts, from the latter by shape of leaves (wider than its length), crenate leaf margins, sparsely pubescent (vs. long-tomentose in R. brutius) sepals. Local North Colchic (Abkhazian) limestone endemic. Formation of the species took place in the conditions of long-time isolation of a fragment of subalpine meadows on Mount Pshegishkhva.
