THE ORCHIDS OF VIETNAM ILLUSTRATED SURVEY. Part 4. SUBFAMILY EPIDENDROIDEAE (tribes Arethuseae and Malaxideae)

Abstract

The article continues serial publication of illustrated critical taxonomical survey of orchids in the flora of Vietnam. This part of the monograph includes taxonomical treatment of tribes Arethuseae and Malaxideae of the largest subfamily, Epidendroideae, with 17 genera and 166 species, as well as some recent discoveries attributed to genera reviewed in previous issues of the monograph. Keys for identifications, valid name, necessary synonyms, type material citation, short description, data on ecology and distribution, as well as list of studied voucher specimens for each species are provided. Mentioned species are illustrated with original line drawings and color photographs. Eight species (Liparis ngoclinhensis, L. longibracteata, Malaxis subtilis, Oberonia rhizoides, O. ngoclinhensis, O. sonlaensis, O. dolichostachys, Tainia acuminata) are described as new for science. One nomenclature combination (Miguelia shenzhenica (Z.J. Liu et S.C. Chen) Aver.) is proposed.
