Astragalus issykkulensis (Fabaceae), a new species from Kyrgyzstan
Abstract
The paper provides a description of a new species of Astagalus L., section Caprini DC. (Fabaceae) from Kyrgyzstan. Section Caprini (= A. sect. Myobroma (Steven) Bunge) is a difficult taxonomic group with a large number (270–280) of closely related species. Astragalus issykkulensis sp. nov. is a young endemic of the Issyk-Kul basin (Central Tian Shan) and belongs to the affinity of A. buchtormensis Pall. The latter species is characteristic of the steppe from Southern Ural to Altai and Dzungar Ala Tau, while A. issykkulensis is a rare plant of sandy shores of the Issyk-Kul Lake.
