75 years to Bimba-Tsyren Batomunkuyevich Namzalov

Abstract
In 2023, the famous Siberian botanist, Professor, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Bimba-Tsyren Batomunkuyevich Namzalov turned 75 years old. The article briefly characterizes the way of his formation as a major and authoritative researcher of flora of arid ecosystems, structure, geography of steppe phytocenoses of mountains of South Siberia and Central Asia. B.-Ts. B. Namzalov developed the theory of the genesis of steppe vegetation of Siberia, described the spatial organization of such a complex natural complex as the mountain forest-steppe of Central Asia; he formulated theoretical approaches to the creation of an optimal network of protected areas. Prof. Namzalov is the author and co-author of about 400 scientific works, including 17 monographs and textbooks. Prof. Namzalov carries out a huge work on training of personnel of higher qualification. The efforts of the scientist in Buryatia and Tuva created a botanical scientific school “Geography and ecology of vegetation”. Bimba-Tsiren Batomunkuyevich is a major scientist, a multifaceted enthusiastic person, thanks to which he contributes to the development of ethnoecological education and local lore.
